Combine the coconut water, sparkling water, lime juice and maple syrup in a jug. Mix well. Pour into champagne glasses and serve immediately with pomegranate seeds (if using) and lime slices.

These sweet and gooey Banana Cinnamon Rolls taste like a truly decadent treat. You can make this recipe in an oven or dehydrator. Either way, they’ll be delicious!
The fructose in banana is the liver’s favorite source of food. It provides quick fuel to the liver and wakes up sleepy cells, increasing their ingenuity and work output. Soothes the linings of the intestinal tract and also soothes the nerves attached to the intestinal tract. Contrary to popular belief, bananas are one of the most antibacterial, anti-yeast, anti-fungal foods. A great food to combine with other nutrient-rich foods or to take with supplements, because they improve the liver’s ability to absorb nutrients.
Banana Cinnamon Rolls
3-4 ripe bananas
1/4 cup walnuts, roughly chopped, for topping (optional)
1 cup dates, pitted
1 tbsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp alcohol-free vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt (optional)
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup date paste (recipe above)
1/3-1/2 cup water
2 tbsp cashew butter/almond butter/tahini (optional)
Preheat oven to 250F (or use a food dehydrator). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Slices bananas into 3 vertical pieces and arrange on baking sheet. Bake for 2 hours in the oven or 3-4 hours at 115F in the dehydrator, until you can roll them without breaking them.
Make the date paste filling by combining dates, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, vanilla, salt and water in a food processor or blender and blending until smooth. Add a bit more water if needed. Set aside 1/2 cup for the date caramel.
Once the bananas are cooked, let them cool for 15 minutes. Flip the banana slices over, then coat one side of the banana with the paste and roll up into a cinnamon roll. To make bigger rolls, roll an additional banana slice onto the roll.
Place the cinnamon rolls back in the oven for 1.5 hours or in the dehydrator for 2-3 hours.
Make the date caramel by whisking together the separated date caramel, water and nut butter (if using) until you get a smooth sauce. Drizzle on top of the cinnamon buns and sprinkle on chopped walnuts (optional). Best served immediately.

Dairy-Free Queso Dip
1 medium-sized potato, peeled and diced
1 1/2 cups of water
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 cup raw cashews, soaked overnight
2 tbsp lime juice
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 ground cumin
1/2 jalapeño, deseeded and roughly chopped, more for garnish
1/2 tsp smoked paprika or paprika
2 tbsp tomato paste
Sea salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Pinch of ground turmeric (for color)
Small handful of fresh cilantro (for garnish)
1 small tomato, diced (for garnish)
1 bag corn-free tortilla chips (optional)
1 large carrot, cut into wedges
2-3 celery stalks, cut into 5 cm sticks
1 red bell pepper, cut into wedges
Add any other vegetables of your choice
Place the potato, water and sea salt in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes until the potato is soft. Drain the cooking liquid into a jug and set aside. Place the cooked potato in the jug of a blender and add the soaked cashews, lime juice, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, jalapeño, smoked paprika, tomato paste and turmeric. Add 2/3 cup of the cooking liquid to the blender and blend the mixture until very smooth. Add a bit more liquid if needed. Taste and adjust seasoning. Pour into serving dish and top with a few slices of fresh jalapeño, diced tomatoes and cilantro. Serve with corn-free tortilla chips and vegetable sticks.

I want you to get the healing benefits that celery juice can offer when consumed in the right way. So below I have taken 21 of the top questions we receive about celery juice every day and answered them for you. I highly recommend taking the time to read through these questions thoroughly so you can get the most from your celery juice.
1. What is the ideal amount of celery juice to receive the healing benefits?
16 ounces of straight celery juice a day is ideal for receiving its healing benefits. Increasing your intake up to 24 to 32 ounces a day can be extremely beneficial for anyone suffering with chronic illness or symptoms.
2. How much celery is needed to make 16 oz of juice?
One large bunch typically makes 16 oz of juice.
3. When is the best time to drink celery juice?
The best time to drink celery juice is in the morning on an empty stomach before you consume anything else other than water or lemon water (wait at least 15 to 30 minutes after the lemon before having your celery juice. Celery juice is a medicinal, not a caloric drink, so you’ll still need breakfast afterward to power you through the morning. Simply wait at least 15 to 30 minutes after drinking your celery juice before consuming anything else.
If you’re unable to consume your celery juice first thing in the morning before food, then the second-best option is to drink it 15 to 30 minutes before eating something or 30 to 60 minutes after eating a small snack or 2 hours after eating a heavier meal anytime during the day. If you’re having 32 ounces a day, you may wish to have it in two 16 ounce servings. You can drink the first serving in the morning on an empty stomach before eating and the second in the late afternoon or early evening, at least 15 to 30 minutes before eating your next meal.
4. Which juicer do you recommend?
Masticating juicers are the best juicers for making celery juice. Greenstar Juicer, Omega Juicer, and Aicok Juicer are all great depending on your budget, but any juicer will work.
5. Does the celery have to be organic?
Organic is best, but if you can’t get organic don’t worry. You can purchase conventionally grown celery. Then wash each stalk with a drop of natural fragrance-free dish soap, followed by rinsing in water. If you don’t have natural clear dish soap, give the celery a quick rinse in warm water. Making sure to rinse each stalk.
6. Can I make celery juice ahead of time?
It’s best to drink celery juice immediately after juicing. But if you don’t have options other wise, do not let it go past one day (24 hours). If using this option, make sure to seal it in a mason jar, and store in the fridge.
7. Is it okay to add lemon or lime to my celery juice?
Celery juice works best on it’s own. Adding other ingredients to the juice will dilute its medicinal properties. This includes lemon, lime, ginger, apple, orange, leafy greens, carrot, beet, or any other ingredient. Wait 15-30 minutes after drinking your celery juice, before consuming anything else.
8. Is there anything that can be added to celery juice to make it more beneficial?
Celery juice is a healing tool for the chronically ill. It has healed and continues to heal millions of people worldwide. Sadly, some individuals are now trying to take advantage of the popularity of celery juice by changing the recipe and adding new ingredients so they can call it their own and profit from it. They recommend adding ingredients like collagen, apple cider vinegar, and activated charcoal to celery juice, but these three items all destroy and denature celery juice when added to it, taking away all of its one of a kind healing properties and bringing ingredients into your body that don’t support healing.
For the protection of your own health, it’s important you are aware of how misleading and unhelpful these trends are that compromise the purity and power of celery juice. These trends have been started by individuals who don’t even believe in celery juice and the healing properties it possesses. They never knew of its existence as a healing tool until the global celery juice movement I started began to organically reach millions of people because it is so effective at helping to heal all kinds of health symptoms and conditions.
These financial investor created trendsetters don’t even know what it is about celery juice that makes it so effective, such as its undiscovered sodium cluster salts that destroy the cell membranes of pathogens so they can be killed off and how the cluster salts rebuild hydrochloric acid. Without knowing how celery juice works and why, they can’t know how to consume it to receive its benefits and how vital it is to not add ingredients such as collagen, apple cider vinegar and, and activated charcoal.
Knowing the right way to drink celery juice is critical for you to get its benefits. There are some nutritional compounds that can help activate or enhance the healing properties of celery juice even more. Some of those nutritional compounds include magnesium, l-glutamine and choline for example.
9. Can I just eat celery instead of juicing it?
The reason we juice the celery versus eating it is because juicing and removing the pulp (fiber) is the only way to get the powerful healing benefits for healing chronic illness. There is a trend that is now happening that recommends leaving the pulp in the drink and just have blended celery versus celery juice, which removes the fiber. Try not to get misled by this trend. Leaving the pulp in will keep you from receiving the unique healing benefits of celery juice.
Eating celery itself is helpful and should be part of your diet, but you will not be able to consume enough celery to get the benefits of juicing it. You wouldn’t be able to receive the concentrated undiscovered cluster salts, that do all of the following:
* Quickly rebuild your hydrochloric acid so that your stomach can break down protein. If protein isn’t broken down properly it will cause gut rot. Strong hydrochloric acid is important to kill off pathogens entering your mouth.
* Celery Juice increases and strengthens your bile. Strong bile is important for the break down fats, and for the killing off pathogens; that have made their way into your body. Eating straight celery wouldn’t allow you to get enough of celery’s cluster salts; that acts as antiseptics for pathogens.
* Celery juice restores your central nervous system. Removes old toxins and poisons, such as: old pharmaceuticals from your liver.
10. Is celery juice okay to consume while pregnant?
Yes, celery juice is safe and healthy to consume while pregnant. If you have any concerns, you can consult your doctor.
11. Can breastfeeding women drink celery juice?
Celery juice is incredible for breastfeeding. It can provide an abundance of trace minerals, vitamin C and neurotransmitter chemicals such as the undiscovered sodium cluster salts for the baby to develop healthy, strong organs. Celery juice also helps clean and detoxify the breast milk, purifying it so the baby receives the purest breast milk possible.
12. Can babies and children drink celery juice?
Yes, celery juice is incredible for the health and development of babies and children.
13. Is it normal to experience a change in bowel movements after drinking celery juice?
Some people may experience a change in their bowel movements when starting to consume celery juice. This is a normal detox reaction that some individuals who have a higher level of toxins may experience. Celery juice will kill off unproductive bacteria in the gut and will also help purge the liver. This can result in loose stools as the body pushes out the toxins from a very toxic liver. Almost everyone today has some degree of liver toxicity, which, as I share in my book Liver Rescue, can lead to countless symptoms and conditions. The loose stools will pass as your body heals and you may notice your bowel movements become more regular and healthier than ever. If you find celery juice too cleansing, try 16 oz of straight cucumber juice. Cucumber juice does not have the same benefits celery juice does but it is very gentle and a great choice until you can restart celery juice.
14. Will I experience an increase in symptoms after drinking celery juice?
Celery juice is very healing, and the undiscovered sodium cluster salts will begin to kill off pathogens like viruses such as Epstein-Barr and Shingles, as well as bacteria such as Streptococcus inside the body right away. For some people, if they’ve already experienced some symptoms on and off in their life such as fatigue or other symptoms, it’s possible that in some cases these people may temporarily experience symptoms again. These symptoms will be short and brief as the body heals and cleans up. This is a powerful healing step that celery juice can offer for long term future health—WITHOUT symptoms.
However, many times when someone reports feeling an increase in symptoms and thinks it’s because of the celery juice, it will actually be because of something else happening in their body, life or diet but the celery juice unfairly takes the blame. It’s important to understand what else could be happening inside the body and how dietary choices and other lifestyle factors could be leading to the increase in symptoms and conditions someone could be experiencing and how to properly support the body to heal. It’s never been more critical to empower yourself to become an expert on the true causes of your symptoms and conditions.
15. Is it normal to get bloated after drinking celery juice?
Celery juice rapidly speeds up digestion. It does this by prompting the liver to increase bile production, and instantly strengthening the stomach’s hydrochloric acid production. Which then begins to break down old undigested rotting protein, old rancid fats trapped at the bottom of the stomach, and in the small intestinal tract that have been there for decades in everyone. Once these fats and proteins dissolve, bloating tends to go away for almost everyone who is dealing with chronic bloating issues. But for some, a feeling of bloating can occur that can be mild to severe, depending on how toxic someone’s digestive tract has become and how much old rotten undigested debris is in their digestive tract. As these individuals continue to use celery juice the right way long term, the condition and toxicity of their digestive tract will improve and bloating can disappear— as long as their other eating choices are within the guidelines shared in the Medical Medium information.
16. Does celery juice contain oxalates?
There is a myth that certain leafy green vegetables and herbs like celery are high in oxalates and are therefore harmful. This is completely incorrect and is preventing many people from getting some powerful and needed nutrients and healing properties provided by foods deemed to be high in oxalates. Oxalates are not the concern they are believed to be.
There are oxalates in every single fruit and vegetable on the planet. The vast array of nutrients in so-called high oxalate leafy greens and celery are some of the most nutritious available to us. Medical research and science has not discovered that there are anti-oxalates in fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens that prevent the oxalates from causing us the damage the current trend tells us they do. In reality, these foods don’t cause us any harm, rather they provide us with critical healing nutrients like phytochemicals, vitamins, and minerals.
17. Can I take celery juice powder or celery powder instead of drinking fresh celery juice?
No, celery powder and celery juice powder can’t replace fresh celery juice. Celery juice powder and celery powder don’t offer any of the benefits that 16 ounces of fresh straight celery juice can. Selling celery juice powders and putting celery inside supplements is going to become a popular trend as celery juice becomes even more well known and people try to profit off the global celery juice movement that is healing the chronically ill. Try to avoid all of these fads. They are a waste of money and they don’t offer the same healing benefits as drinking straight, fresh celery juice every day.
18. Are there nitrates in celery juice?
Celery and celery juice can’t contain any nitrates that are activated or harmful unless the celery has oxidized or been dehydrated. The naturally occurring nitrates in celery don’t exist when the celery or fresh celery juice hasn’t yet oxidized. When fresh celery juice or celery does oxidize, just like when any herb, vegetable or fruit oxidizes, then a naturally occurring nitrate can develop. But this naturally occurring nitrate is also never harmful in any way, shape or form. Celery juice powder and celery powder have oxidized so they can contain naturally occurring nitrates because that developed through the oxidation process.
These nitrates are not the same variety of nitrates which are considered to be irritating to some people. It’s important to know that not all nitrates are the same, just like all people are not the same, all water is not the same, all sugar is not the same, and all protein is not the same. For example, gluten is an entirely different protein than the protein inside meat or the protein inside nuts. Also, the naturally occurring nitrates that can develop in an oxidized form of celery such as celery powder and celery juice powder are not the same as the harmful nitrates that are added to meat and all kinds of other products.
Also, nitrates are different to nitrites; they’re not the same thing. Even celery powder, which does contain naturally occurring nitrates, can’t be relied upon as a method for curing foods such as pickles or meat because it still doesn't contain nitrites. Fresh celery juice also doesn’t contain nitrites. Anything naturally occurring in celery and celery juice is not harmful. This is the same for pure celery powder and pure celery juice powder. However, harmful nitrates can be added to celery powder or celery juice powder by the company that makes it or uses it in another product. Your fresh celery juice can not have harmful nitrates in it unless you were to add them in yourself.
If you don’t drink fresh celery juice because you believe it contains harmful nitrates, then you are unfortunately going to lose the unique healing opportunity fresh celery juice, which does not contain nitrates, can provide.
19. How long does it take to feel the benefits of drinking celery juice?
It depends on what condition the person is in. Almost everyone feels benefits of some kind in their first week of drinking celery juice in the right amount and in the right way daily. Many people even feel benefits after their first juice. It all depends on the person and their circumstances, such as their health conditions and symptoms and how toxic and overburdened their liver is with different pathogens and poisons such as pesticides, solvents, herbicides, toxic heavy metals, and all kinds of other chemicals and toxins. If someone is dealing with weight issues, if they have a lot of putrefied and rancid fats in their colon, and/or a lot of bacteria in their intestinal tract such as streptococcus, this will also affect the healing timeline.
The amount of stress someone is experiencing in their life, what else they choose to eat and drink in addition to their straight celery juice, and their other lifestyle habits will also play a role in how long it takes for someone to feel the benefits. But most people do feel a difference rather quickly. Some people who have been drinking celery juice for a long time get used to how good or how much better it makes them feel than when they weren't drinking it. Then they stop drinking celery juice temporarily, like many do, and find they don’t feel as good anymore. They realize at this point just how instrumental the celery juice was in helping them feel better.
It’s important to know that even if someone doesn’t see or feel the benefits of drinking celery juice quickly, it doesn’t mean the benefits aren’t happening. Everybody who drinks celery juice receives benefits immediately, because the healing powers of celery juice begin working immediately upon entering the body. For some people, it can take a bit of time to see or feel the benefits in a tangible way they can notice, even though the celery juice has been providing healing benefits from the first drink internally.
20. Is there too much sodium in celery juice?
All salt is not the same, just like all sugar is not the same. Consuming high fructose corn syrup, which is detrimental to health, is not the same as eating an apple, which can bring healing to the liver and provide a wealth of critical nutrients. So don’t get confused by the idea that all salt is the same, because it’s not.
If you hear someone say that there’s too much salt in celery juice, they’re not correct. The sodium cluster groups in celery juice are a subgroup of sodium. Science and research have not even discovered all the variations of trace minerals and subgroups of sodium that reside in celery juice. Sodium cluster salts are healing for the body and we can’t get have enough of them. Sixteen ounces of celery juice on a daily basis provides these sodium cluster salts we so greatly need.
Celtic sea salt or Himalayan rock salt are entirely different forms of sodium. No matter how high quality the salt, putting Celtic sea salt or Himalayan rock salt in a drink or on your food is not the same as consuming enough of these undiscovered sodium cluster salts from celery juice. Sodium cluster salts are the only form of sodium that destroys pathogens, helps detox the body and helps restore electrolytes and neurotransmitter chemicals. The sodium in celery juice is a medicinal sodium that’s meant for your bloodstream and your body whereas you need to cautious of consuming too much of the type of sodium that comes in even the highest quality salts.
21. Can I juice celery root instead of celery?
No, celery root is a different plant to the large bunches of celery stalks with leaves. Juicing celery root will not provide the same healing benefits.

Apples have wonderful anti-inflammatory properties and provide significant results for those suffering with autoimmune disorders such as Addison’s disease, Cardiomyopathy, Celiac disease, Lupus, and Multiple Sclerosis. Apples contain pectin, which is a gel-like fiber that can prevent the putrefaction of protein in the digestive tract. Apple Pie Pancakes
1/2 cup + 1-2 tbsp unsweetened almond milk
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 cup wholegrain gluten-free oat flour
2 tbsp coconut sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
1/8 tsp of ground nutmeg
1 tsp baking powder
2-3 tbsp maple syrup, for drizzling
For the Spiced Apples:
2 red apples, diced
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
2 tbsp coconut sugar
2 tsp water
In a small bowl or jug, combine the almond milk and applesauce. Mix well and set aside.
Add the oat flour, coconut sugar, ground cinnamon, ground cardamom, ground nutmeg and baking powder to a medium-sized bowl and whisk to combine. Pour theapple sauce mixture into the flour and stir until you get an even batter. Add 1-2 tbsp more almond milk if needed - the batter should be thick but pourable. Set aside.
To make the spiced apples, combine the diced apples, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, ground cardamom, coconut sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Cook, uncovered, for 5-10 minutes, until the apples are cooked through.
While the apples are cooking, place a non-stick crepe or regular pan on medium-high heat and add a couple spoonfuls of pancake batter. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until browned underneath, then flip. Repeat with rest of the batter.
Serve the pancakes immediately with spiced apples and a drizzle of maple syrup.

3/4 cup vegan caster sugar or blonde coconut sugar, ground finely
1-2 tsp freshly-squeezed organic beetroot juice (optional)
Line a baking tray with a clean sheet of parchment paper and preheat oven to 210F.
Place the liquid from a chickpea can into a large, clean bowl and whisk with a stand-mixer or electric beater until soft peaks form. Add the sugar little by little, beating thoroughly after each addition. Continue until all the sugar is added and the mixture has reached stiff peaks (stands upright on the whisk).
Place the meringue into a piping bag or clean ziploc bag with the corner cut off. Add a couple teaspoons of beetroot juice to the sides (if using). Pipe the meringue onto the parchment-lined baking sheet and bake in the oven for 2 hours, until firm to the touch. When done, turn the oven off, open the oven door slightly and let the meringues cool completely in the oven. Best kept in an airtight container.

1/2 cup raw honey

4 cups organic puffed brown rice cereal
Combine raw honey, cashew butter, vanilla and salt in a large bowl. Stir well. Add the brown rice cereal and mix with a spatula until combined.
Line a 9x9 baking dish with parchment paper and pour mixture into the dish. Press down with the spatula to smooth everything out, then place the dish in the refrigerator. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, until the bars have hardened, then remove and cut into bars. Best kept in the fridge.

They aren’t the real reason there’s an epidemic of mystery weight gain across the globe.
Despite the theories and promises of trendy fad diets everywhere you look, it’s the liver that holds the answers to your questions about mystery weight gain. It is not as straightforward as burning more calories than we consume. Many times, people are following a trendy diet and exercising regularly and are still gaining weight. It’s critical to have great compassion for those who are struggling with their weight and to understand what’s really going on so we can help end the shame and judgement many overweight people experience.
The True Cause of Mystery Weight Gain
If you’re gaining weight, it means your liver is sluggish. I have a whole chapter on mystery weight gain and another chapter on sluggish liver in Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease. While two other factors, the thyroid and the adrenals, can often be involved, weight gain is really about what your liver is up against.
When someone can eat all the junk food she or he wants and not gain an ounce, it’s because they have a liver that hasn’t yet hit its fat-storing or poison-storing limitation and therefore functions at a faster pace. That doesn’t mean their liver isn’t overburdened or overstressed. You could be thin and still have a liver illness developing or a liver complication that’s causing or will eventually cause symptoms.
What could be overburdening the liver you might ask? Liver Troublemakers. That’s the name I have given to the hundreds of different toxins, pathogens and pollutants we have in our livers. We have all been exposed to many of them over our lifetimes and even before we were born we inherited them in the womb because they’re passed down from generation to generation in our family lines. Even the healthiest babies are born with livers that aren’t functioning at 100% because of these Liver Troublemakers (unfortunately it’s more like 70% at most.) To discover what these troublemakers are, where they sit in the liver, how they damage the liver, how long it takes for them to leave, and how to support your body and liver to remove them, you can read Liver Rescue.
Ideally, the liver would be strong and uncompromised enough to process fats, toxins, and hormones with ease, neutralizing and getting rid of the toxins altogether while only holding on to high-quality fats and hormones that could be useful to your body later. The reality is that for most people, the liver simply has too much to do and the liver can’t process fat as well as it’s meant to, so fat cells begin to collect in it at a more rapid rate. The liver becomes so congested internally that fat builds around the outside of it, with pre-fatty and then fatty liver developing. Fat cells then begin to accumulate in the intestinal tract, and eventually, the heart and arteries get saturated. Weight starts to cling on around the waist.
This is just one side of mystery weight gain. There’s a great deal more to understand that I cover in Liver Rescue so you have a complete picture of what is happening when you’re gaining unwanted weight.
The Adrenal Connection
One of the reasons that the liver begins to breakdown is an influx of adrenaline in the bloodstream. As life get busier and more stressful, adrenaline is pumped through the body in increasing quantities. No longer is this an issue solely restricted to mid or late adulthood with the many responsibilities and stresses this time of life holds. Students are becoming burnt out earlier on in their college careers and are taking a year off or dropping out of school completely. Even medical students are choosing to forgo residencies due to increasingly high levels of stress.
The reason that stress and adrenaline are so toxic is that they cause the liver to become overburdened. Add to that the high-protein and high-fat diets that are highly popular and normal today and the liver is put into further distress. Whether you’re plant based or love animal foods, high-protein diets (which are also inherently high in fat), are problematic for the liver. No matter what the fat source is—animal protein, soy, nuts, avocados, oil—too much of it burdens the liver. The ketogenic diet is especially problematic. Why? When you eat a high-protein and high-fat diet, your adrenals flood adrenaline into your bloodstream to help your liver disperse fats. Your liver needs this help because bile, whose job it is to breakdown fats, is weakened when your liver is under stress. If your adrenals do not respond with aid, excess fat in the bloodstream can lead to stroke or heart attack. This extra adrenaline, while corrosive and damaging, is your body’s way of protecting your life.
Healing the Liver

For those who have already been applying the information I share in Liver Rescue and my other books, rescuing the liver takes time so do not be discouraged. This means that weight gain can continue for a period when you’re doing the right things because the liver was already under such distress that it needs time to adjust and heal before the weight can start to leave.
Additionally, when we have viruses, bacteria, toxic heavy metals like copper, aluminum, or mercury, and other Liver Troublemakers sitting in our livers, recovery time increases. This is due to the fact that, when our livers are inundated with fats and our bile is weakened, viruses and bacteria take advantage of this dip in our immune systems and strengthen (you can read Liver Rescue or any of my books to understand why you might have these pathogens in your liver). If you suffered from acne as a teenager, for instance, and continue to see occasional outbreaks when you are sick or around your cycle, this is because acne is caused by the strep bacteria, which continues to sit in the liver long term producing more symptoms later in life. The same is true for cold sores and HHV. Other viruses, like Epstein-Barr (which has over 60 undiscovered strains), are also rampant, biding time, and straining the liver. All of these factors plus more I discuss in Liver Rescue play a part in the condition of your liver and the symptoms and illnesses you have now or could have in the future.
Our job, then, is to take care of our livers in the way they need on a daily basis. Then you will be healing every day, even when you can’t yet see or feel it. This includes limiting fat intake, whether it’s from plant or animal sources, to give your liver a break so it can work on other important roles aside from processing fats. It also includes eating the healthy critical clean carbohydrates I discuss in detail in Liver Rescue that our livers need to replenish vital glycogen storage and heal and prevent countless conditions. It’s so important to understand how your body works and what it needs from you so you can protect yourself and your loved ones now and in the future. Nothing quite hits the spot and soothes the soul like a warm drink on a cold day (or anytime of year!). Spiced Creamy Hot Chaga
1 cup coconut milk
1/3 cup hot water
1 tsp Chaga mushroom powder
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon + more for sprinkling
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
1-2 Medjool dates
1/2 tsp alcohol free vanilla extract
For the coconut whip topping (optional):
1 14-ounce can coconut cream or full fat coconut milk, chilled in the fridge overnight
2-3 tbsp raw honey
Place the coconut milk, water, chaga powder, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, dates and vanilla in a blender and blend until smooth and frothy, for at least 2 minutes.
To make the optional coconut whip, chill your mixing bowl in the freezer for 10 minutes. When the bowl is chilled, remove the thick cream from the top of the can, leaving the coconut water behind. Using an electric whisk, beat the cream for 2-3 minutes until you get soft peaks. Add the honey and beat for another 2 minutes.
To serve, pour the latte into a cup and top with coconut whip (if using) and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Serve immediately.

Watching your children suffer from various illnesses and symptoms is heartbreaking. What’s even more difficult is not getting the answers you need to help your child heal. There are many health conditions that infants and small children suffer with that remain a mystery to medical science and research, including acid reflux and conditions like jaundice and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders (PANDAS). For moms and dads, this is an incredibly frustrating and disheartening process.
In many cases, young children’s and babies’ health symptoms and conditions are blamed on genetics or labelled autoimmune diseases. As I explain in Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease, neither of these are true and both prevent true healing for children. It’s critical if you’re a parent, grandparent, or intend to become a parent in the future that you understand what is really behind common illnesses babies and children suffer with. Because without the truth, the unknown underlying causes for their symptoms will create more health problems for your children later in life. The information I share in Liver Rescue is there for you so you know what’s really going on in your child’s body and how you can help them heal.
One common misconception is that babies are born with a clean slate when it comes to their body and health. That they are born with organs like the liver fully functioning and in good working order. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case at this point on our earth. No one is born with a liver that’s operating at 100% because toxins and pathogens are passed down from generations long before us, and these toxins affect infants in utero. This is one of the reasons a baby can experience symptoms upon birth, soon after birth or in the first few years of their life. Plus, early standard medical treatments for babies can fill newborns’ livers with what I call “Liver Troublemakers”. I list hundreds of these Liver Troublemakers in Liver Rescue so you can get a full picture of why even our children’s livers are under duress today.
What this means is that the average healthy person today is born with a liver that is functioning at about 70% capacity—best-case scenario. For infants under intense stress during pregnancy, for various reasons, this percentage is lower. As we grow into adulthood, this number continues to decrease. This reduced liver function can cause bloating, acid reflux, jaundice, PANDAS, and many other conditions that pediatricians prescribe medication for without knowing or addressing the underlying problem because they aren’t aware of what’s really causing it.
There are many theories circulating in the medical community as to why babies develop acid reflux or bloating. One belief is that it’s because of the mother’s breast milk, which isn’t true. Another common theory is that a baby’s intestinal tract has not developed properly or coiled correctly, causing stress on the intestines. Another is that the intestinal tract is so soft and so pliable that sitting at a certain angle puts pressure on the duodenum. Doctors say that this intestinal stress will eventually subside, and symptoms of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) do go away. But just because these symptoms clear does not mean that the root cause, a weak liver, has disappeared. Instead, the real cause, which I call Baby Liver, goes silent for a short while, until other conditions appear down the road. I explain this in-depth in Liver Rescue.
Moms and dads, what your pediatricians should be telling you is that your baby’s overburdened liver and gallbladder are behind acid reflux. The reason for this is that when an infant’s liver is weakened from ancestral toxins and pathogens (the Liver Troublemakers), it has to create more bile and hydrochloric acid than it’s meant to and designed to at this early stage of life. A baby’s liver is not meant to produce large levels of bile, nor is a baby’s stomach meant to produce high amounts of hydrochloric acid. Breast milk is made up mostly of sugar and water, not protein and fat. This high sugar and low protein and low fat composition requires very little bile production. (An unknown truth is that the brain is made out of glycogen and carbohydrates, not fats, which is why this sugar-water is so essential to a baby’s health!)
That said, what little bile and hydrochloric acid a baby does need to produce is still important. When a baby’s liver is weak from the start, it can create a digestive issue, because baby liver translates to bile underproduction and low hydrochloric acid. When a baby’s liver is sluggish or stagnant right from the start, bile and hydrochloric acid will diminish even more. What little fat and protein there are in breast milk, the baby will have a harder time digesting on a micro scale, resulting in those GERD-like symptoms that are a mystery to doctors.
When a child exhibits symptoms like yellow skin or yellow eyes, doctors immediately know that they are dealing with a problem in the liver. This is the one condition that medical science and research know is a liver problem. What they are not able to do, though, is connect the dots. Doctors assume that the baby’s liver cannot handle the work of creating and breaking down blood cells. In reality, the liver is trying to overcome a highly toxic load made up of those Liver Troublemakers I share in detail in Liver Rescue. In other words, the liver is sluggish, stagnant, toxic, compromised and overburdened. This is especially problematic given the over 2,000 chemical functions of the liver, over 75% of which are undiscovered by medical science and research. The toxicity and burden on the liver can set the stage for future symptoms and illnesses later in life if someone doesn’t know the truth about how to properly care for the liver and get the Liver troublemakers out safely.
In the case of PANDAS, doctors turn their attention to the bacteria streptococcus. While strep is often present in a child’s system, weakening the immune system, the real troublemakers behind PANDAS are the virus HHV-6 in combination with the toxic heavy metal mercury being present in the child’s system. Medical science and research are still unaware of the truth that viruses feed on toxic heavy metals (and other Liver Troublemakers) in the body. So in the case of PANDAS, HHV-6 is feeding on the mercury, which produces neurotoxins and internal dermatoxins that cause the symptoms associated with PANDAS such as OCD, spasms, acute attacks, and rashes. To fully understand PANDAS and how it develops, you can refer to the chapter I wrote about it in Liver Rescue.
While it can be frustrating to visit the doctor’s office and receive no real answers, it is worth bringing these issues to your pediatrician’s attention. In Liver Rescue, I discuss these conditions further, as well as the types of foods and supplements beneficial for babies and children. With these tools, you can help your children heal their livers as they grow up. You can also take the information in the book to your doctor or healthcare practitioner if you wish and find someone who will work with the information to help you and your family. I know being a parent is already such a brave and difficult job, and when your baby is sick, it becomes so much harder.
